Vape Mods & Advanced Devices
A vape tank (also called an atomiser) is the component on a vape device that holds the e-liquid and contains the heating coil that turns liquid into vapour.
MTL (Mouth-to-Lung) tanks mimic smoking — you draw vapour into your mouth first, then inhale into your lungs.
DTL (Direct-to-Lung) tanks deliver vapour straight into your lungs with larger airflow and more vapour clouds.
Common causes of leaking include overfilling, improper coil installation, worn O-rings, or incorrect airflow settings. Always ensure seals are seated properly and don’t overfill past the indicated max line. (Typical industry knowledge, supported by general guides)
To prime a new coil:
- Apply a few drops of e-liquid directly onto the cotton wicking holes.
- Fill the tank, let it sit for 5–10 minutes so the wick fully absorbs liquid.
- Start vaping on lower power first.
Sub-ohm tanks (typically used in DTL setups) are best with high VG e-liquids (70 %+ VG) because VG is thicker and produces smoother vapour and bigger clouds in these tanks.
Tighter airflow = warmer vapour and stronger flavour (MTL style).
Open airflow = cooler vapour and larger clouds (DTL style).
Adjust to personal preference and the coil’s recommended range.
This often happens when e-liquid gets into the mouthpiece due to:
- Over-priming
- Too low wattage
- Too thin e-liquid
- Too open airflow
Adjust settings and check coil install to reduce spitting. (Supported by general vape knowledge)
Clean your tank:
- When changing flavours
- When replacing coils
- If vapour tastes odd
Rinse with warm water and let fully dry before refilling. (Common best practice)
A sub-ohm tank uses coils with resistance below 1 Ω, which heats faster and produces larger clouds and stronger flavour. These tanks are usually for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping and require higher power.
The size of the tank itself doesn’t directly affect flavour, but tank design — including airflow, coil type, and chamber shape — influences flavour intensity. Because of UK rules, tanks must be 2ml or less when sold for nicotine vaping.
