Tanks & Atomizers
A vape tank (atomizer) is the part of a vape device that holds e-liquid and contains the coil, which heats the liquid into vapour.
- MTL (Mouth-to-Lung) tanks mimic how you inhale a cigarette.
- DTL (Direct-to-Lung) tanks allow more airflow for bigger vapour clouds.
Leaks usually happen due to loose seals, damaged O-rings, overfilling, or incorrect coil fitting. (Industry guidance — best practice)
Add a few drops of e-liquid on the coil’s cotton, fill the tank, wait 5–10 mins, then start at low power.
Sub-ohm DTL tanks are recommended for 70VG+ liquids because they can wick thick e-liquid effectively.
- Tight airflow → stronger throat hit + warmer vapour (MTL)
- Open airflow → cooler vapour + bigger clouds (DTL)
Likely from excess liquid in the coil, low wattage, or very thin e-liquid. (Industry guidance — best practice)
Clean when changing flavours or replacing coils to prevent flavour contamination. (Industry best practice)
A tank using coils below 1 ohm to produce larger clouds and stronger flavour — typically used for DTL vaping.
Design matters more than size — but UK law limits tank capacity to 2 ml for nicotine-containing products.
